Ye Olde Bulls Head
Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales.
Though the existing building is largely the product of major renovation during the early 19th century, there are still elements of earlier incarnations to be found - the staircase is partly 17th century, and the cellar walls are reckoned to be medieval in origin.
Famous names from history to have stayed at 'The Bull' include Charles Dickens in 1859 (who makes mention of his visit to Anglesey in The Uncommercial Traveller), and Dr Samuel Johnson.
These days the inn offers 26 guest rooms, a restaurant, brasserie, and a level of hospitality that the gourmand Dr Johnson would undoubtedly approve of.
