Strand House
Winchelsea, East Sussex, England.

True romantics will no doubt plump for the aptly named “Character Rooms” to be found at Strand House. Brimming with period charm, these include The Tudor (complete with 250 year old four poster bed), The Inglenook (boasting a priest hole, no less), and Winchelsea Beach (featuring low beams and fireplace).
That said, the “Cosy Rooms” and “Classic Rooms” certainly won’t disappoint those who prefer the old to the contemporary either.
Strand House itself is formed from two buildings, one of which dates from the 15th century, and the other from the 13th. As such, it is one of the oldest properties in an area already chock-full of period buildings.
Aside from its architectural significance and importance to local heritage, its most notable historic claim-to-fame is that it features in a painting by J M W Turner.
Rye and Hastings are within easy reach for those travelling by car.
