Castello delle Serre
Serre di Rapolano, Tuscany, Italy.
An all-too-brief description would be “an old castle turned into an inn”, but such an explanation of Castello delle Serre would, perhaps, wrongly conjur up images of draughty rooms and a surly innkeeper.
The testimonies of former guests, however, depict something entirely different. Indeed, numerous visitors seem to have nothing but praise for the owner, Salvatore Gangale and his children.
Ascertaining the precise age of this splendid building is difficult. But it would be a great surprise if it were anything short of half-a-millennium old, and possibly a great deal more.
All of the fifteen rooms have their own private bathrooms, and vary from standard doubles to suites. The ‘Deluxe Suite’, however, is split between three levels and is located in the Upper Tower. Castello della Serre also boasts an outdoor swimming pool, bar, and an ancient parkland garden.
Evening dinners are available on request, while breakfast is served daily.
