L'Hostellerie du Chateau
Briquebec, Normandy, France.
This is a genuine medieval castle standing a mere half-hour’s drive from Cherbourg in the Cotentin peninsula. Built in the 11th Century, the building has seen more than its fair share of Anglo-French historic rivalry and was once owned by Robert Bertrand who fought with William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings.
Medieval connections and romance aside, the hotel has played host to both Queen Victoria and Field Marshall Montgomery.
Part of the Chateaux et Hotels Collection, L’Hostellerie du Chateau offers 17 guest rooms in total, a restaurant (in the Knight’s Hall), and bar.
