Hotel Maria Cristina
San Sebastian, Basque, Spain.

Over recent years the Hotel Maria Cristina’s clientele has included a fair number of famous names from Hollywood, including Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. However, the most notable historic figure we know to be associated with the building is the wife of Alfonso XII and Regent of Spain, Maria Cristina herself – “the first person across the threshold” as the hotel itself proudly claims.
The place itself is little over a century old, having only been built in 1912. A Belle Epoque classic if ever there was, it has consistently been favoured by the rich and powerful (especially since the beginning of the San Sebastien Film Festival in 1953), and today boasts a five star rating.
With over 130 guest rooms and suites, it is undeniably a grand hotel by Spanish standards.
