The Kings Arms
Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England
Don't be too surprised if you arrive at The Kings Arms and experience a little sense of deja vu. Truth is, you almost certainly will have seen the place before, most likely in film and television productions such as Midsomer Murders, Miss Marple, and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
The reason why it is seemingly held in such high esteem by directors is simple - the building is every inch the archetypal English inn. And it follows that such a structure is afforded the protection of a Grade II* listed status.
As it is, the present hotel is actually made up of separate buildings, with the earliest dating from the Tudor period (three of its suites are situated within this part of the inn). Although many notable names must surely have passed through its doors over the centuries, we are only aware of Oliver Cromwell having been a guest during the 1600's.
History enthusiasts will undoubtedly wish to stay within the older section of the hotel where the Deluxe, Superior Deluxe and Suite rooms are situated. Executive Double rooms are set within a more modern extension.
The Kings Arms also has its own bar and restaurant, both of which boast plenty of historic appeal and period features.
