Lynford Hall Hotel
Mundford, Norfolk, England.
Just a little to the north of Thetford, Lynford Hall dates from the mid-1800’s and replaced an earlier 18th century building. Alas, the house was badly damaged by a fire during the 1920’s which completely destroyed the East Wing of the house.
Lynford has welcomed a fair few notable 20th century figures, not least Joseph Kennedy during his time as US Ambassador to the UK – the future President John F Kennedy accompanying him as a little boy on occasions. Ernest Hemingway is another famous visitor who enjoyed shooting on the estate.
Often used for the filming of television series’ in the past, the property is now a three-star hotel offering 40 guest rooms.
Dining options are available at the hotel’s Duvernay Restaurant, while the more informal Wellingtonia Bar offers bar meals and snacks. Mildenhall, Ely and Swaffham are all within easy reach by car, while Norwich is around half an hour away by road.
