The White Horse
Storrington, West Sussex, England.
With regret, The White Horse is not currently offering accommodation. This is a legacy page.
Reputed to be in the region of four hundred years old, The White Horse is an old coaching inn set within the rural village of Storrington, near Pulborough.
It boasts a connection to two of the early 20th centuries most notable figures in literature and music: the author Hilaire Belloc, and the composer Sir Arnold Bax.
Indeed, the former was moved to describe the White Horse as an example of “mortal inns, human inns, full of a common and reasonable good” in his book The Four Men. Sir Arnold Bax is said to have been a resident at the inn for a period during the 1940’s.
Much of the property, including the 13 guest rooms, was refurbished in a contemporary style in 2009.
