Palacio de Luces
Luces, Asturias, Spain.
As befits somewhere dating from the early part of the seventeenth century, Palacio de Luces possesses a rich history and has been the property of notable Asturian families.
However, from an international perspective, its most notable historic significance is that the Spanish statesman, Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos is said to have stayed here in 1790 while travelling to Santiago de Compostela on pilgrimage. A writer and intelletual, de Jovellanos is widely held to be one of the most important figures in Spain’s Age of Enlightenment.
Palacio de Luces today offers 44 guest rooms and is five-star rated. Oviedo is within easy reach by car.
