Hotel Zum Storchen
Zurich, Switzerland.
The name is something of a mystery, although legend has it that it comes from when two rare storks nested on its roof many centuries ago. Although it has a history of hospitality stretching back more than half a millennium, the building today is largely the product of a reconstruction during the 1930’s.
It should be noted, though, that the likes of Richard Wagner have stayed here. Moreover, it is also proudly boasts that the extraordinarily-named Theophrastus Bombastus Paracelsus von Hohenheim (often referred to simply as Paracelsus) who was a renowned physician and philosopher during the early 16th century was a guest in 1535.
Hotel Storchen today features 67 rooms and suites, most with views of either the River Limmat or the old city of Zurich. Its restaurant, La Rotisserie, specializes in Swiss and French cuisine.
