This exceptionally impressive castle dates in parts from the 13th century, with the five guest rooms and suites located in some of the most ancient areas of the building.
Historically, it has been the property of three great figures - Catherine de Médicis, Queen Marguerite de Valois, and Louis XIII – and is situated in what has been described as one of France’s most beautiful villages.
Other notable visitors to the place include Charles IX in 1566. Rooms and suites include the Duchesse Suite, Louis XIII Family Suite and the Cardinal Room.
Clermont Ferrand is but a short drive to the north, while Lyon, Brive la Gaillarde and Limoges are a little further afield but easily reached by car.
