The St. Regis Hotel
Florence, Italy.
Once the home of the Giuntini family, the hotel itself has been welcoming guests since the eighteenth century when it was originally known as the Grand Royal de la Paix (and the first true luxury hotel in the city).
Standing alongside the River Arno, this Florence landmark has been the place of choice for many of Europe’s rich and powerful over the years, with Queen Victoria arguably its most famous visitor. And the high level of hospitality she would have experienced in the late 1900’s has continued through to the present day.
Five star rated, the St Regis has also remained true to its origins – it may well possess all the luxuries the 21st century traveller desires, but the atmosphere and furnishings are delightfully classical. Indeed, guest rooms are themed, with “Medici” and “Renaissance” styles among them.
The hotel also boasts an award winning restaurant, Etichetta, which specializes in Tuscan food.
