Dating, in parts, to the 16th century, Domaine du Grand Malherbes is a grand old mansion set within its own parkland.
Once the property of King Louis XV’s treasurer, it eventually came to be home to the great granddaughter of Victor Hugo. While here she is reputed to have entertained numerous guests of artistic and literary fame, including Erik Satie (famous for his piano works The Gymnopodies) and the writer-filmmaker Jean Cocteau.
Offering fourteen guest rooms in all, the hotel also boasts its own outdoor swimming pool. Both Montpellier and Nimes are within easy reach by car.
