Hotel Posta
Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna, Italy.
Quite how much remains of the original Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo building of the late 13th century is difficult to ascertain. But the Hotel Posta of today is undeniably one of the oldest hotels in the whole of Italy.
Indeed, it is precisely because of its exceptional age that it is listed here – alas, although famous names will certainly have stayed here in centuries-past, no record remains. In fact, while it was originally constructed as a house for the elected governor of the city, it is reputed to have been operating as a hotel since 1515 (then known as the Locanda del Cappello Rosso).
Four-star rated and benefiting from a central location in Reggio Emilia, Hotel Posta offers 38 rooms in all.
