The Hind
Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England.

This 17th century inn is certainly one for those with an interest in the English Civil War.
Little over 10 miles from the famous battlefield at Naseby, local legend suggests that a number of Parliamentarian army officers used the building while planning for engagement with Royalist troops. In fact, some suggest that Oliver Cromwell himself visited the place – a fact which is almost impossible to confirm or refute.
Whatever the truth, The Hind is certainly a fine period building which deserves its Grade-II listing. That said, it must surely be a great deal larger than it was during the 17th century given that it now features some 34 guest rooms.
Food and drink are available via Cromwell’s Bar (snacks and light lunches), Ollie’s Coffee Shop, and the Oak Beamed Restaurant for evening dinner. Northampton and Kettering are both a short drive away.
