Schlosshotel Kronberg
Near Frankfurt, Germany.

Constructed in 1889, Schlosshotel Kronberg certainly isn’t the oldest hotel in Germany, but it is still undeniably historic. After all, it can claim to not only have played host to a number of influential figures but also to having been home to one.
Originally known as Castle Friedrichshof, the house was once the property of the Empress Friedrich; the eldest child of Queen Victoria and mother to Kaiser Wilhelm II. Indeed, it was here that “Princess Vicky” passed away on August 5th, 1901.
Other notable visitors include Edward VII of England and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. Moreover, the hotel’s Royal Suite takes in parts of the building used by Kaiser Wilhelm II during his stays.
Today this impressive country house, on the edge of the Taunus Forest north west of Frankfurt, offers 58 guest rooms and five star accommodation.
