Chateau le Mas de Montet
Riberac, Aquitaine, France.
The estate of Le Mas de Montet is reputed to have first been settled during the time of the Roman Empire. Of course, there’s no trace of such great antiquity in the present house, but traces of the 15th and 16th centuries are to be found in what is very much a Renaissance-style chateau.
During the 19th century the property was owned by the Marquis de Nattes – an individual famous in France for his role in the Franco-Prussian war. Indeed, he would still very much recognize the house today.
An esteemed former guest is Francois Mitterand who would often stay, frequently conducting meetings with government officials while in residence. The suite connected with him bears his name.
Chateau Le Mas de Montet possesses 10 rooms in all and features an outdoor swimming pool for use during the warmer months.
