Formerly known as the Locanda dell’Annunziata when it would have been a more modest inn, this four-star hotel is located just a stone’s throw from Estense Castle (the famous moated fortress which sits at the heart of Ferrara).
Admittedly, the design-led interior might not be to the taste of the classic history-traveller, but the hotel is listed here on account of it having been patronized by Giacomo Casanova, the 18th century author and lothario.
Offering 27 guest rooms in all (most in the original building and others in a nearby property), Hotel Annunziata is four-star rated.
