The House of Agnes
Canterbury, Kent, England.
Said to date back to the 14th century, this old inn features in the Charles Dickens story of David Copperfield (as the home of Agnes Wickfield).
Whether or not the iconic author actually stayed at the property we cannot be sure, but 21st century guests seem to largely appreciate the period-boutique feel of today. More contemporary ‘Stable Rooms’ are also available.
It offers bed & breakfast accommodation via nine individually furnished rooms and also features private gardens for guests to enjoy.
Interestingly, during recent renovations a rare ‘Astrolabic Quadrant’ dating from 1388 was found on the property and is now on display at the British Museum.
