Langdon Court
Wembury, Devon, England.
With regret, Langdon Court is now an exclusive-use venue. This is a legacy page.
Although remodelled and extended in the 18th and 19th centuries, the origins of this Grade-II* listed building are from the mid 1500’s when the original medieval house was rebuilt.
Its history is decidedly regal given that Henry VIII and Catherine Parr were reputed to have visited (alas, suggestions that Elizabeth I also came here are unlikely to be true). However, as a friend of the then owner, the future Edward VII stayed on numerous occasions with Lillie Langtry.
Four star rated, the hotel’s guest rooms blend the classic and contemporary, each being individually designed and furnished. Meanwhile, dining options are available both within Langdon Court’s restaurant, and the Brasserie Bar for lunch or afternoon tea.
Set amid ten acres of gardens, Langdon Court is within just a few miles of Plymouth to the north west and the fine South Hams countryside.
