Palau lo Mirador Hotel
Torroella di Montgri, Catalonia, Spain.
A true Catalonian palace, Palau lo Mirador was first documented in the 14th century. It is thought, however, that its heritage may stretch back several centuries earlier.
The most notable historic significance of the building is, perhaps, that it was here that John I of Aragon is reputed to have spent the last night of his life here in 1396. James I of Aragon (also known as James the Conqueror) also stayed here en route to the Courts of Lyon.
The hotel today offers 10 guest rooms, while the beaches of the northern Costa Brava are little over five miles away.
