Chateau les Bruyeres
Cambremer, Normandy, France.
With regret, Chateau les Bruyeres is not presently offering accommodation. This is a legacy page.
Built in 1816 on the site of much earlier manor, Chateau Les Bruyeres passed through several hands during its early years. However, it was during the ownership period of the Petit family that the Chateau accommodated arguably its most famous guest, Marcel Proust.
Indeed, so taken with the location was the author that he chose to immortalise it in the novel Within a Budding Grove (A l’Ombre des Jeunes Filles en Fleur) published in 1919.
Today, the property offers 13 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar. Caen, Bayeux and Honfleur are all within easy reach by car.
