Grand Hotel Majestic Gia Baglioni
Bologna, Emilia Romagna, Italy.
Built on the site of medieval houses during the mid-1700’s, what today is one of the most prestigious places to stay in Emilia-Romagna began as an Archdiocesan seminary. However, part of the hotel (originally the Palazzo Fava Ghisilardi) is reputed to date from the late 15th century.
The construction of the aforementioned seminary was ordered by Cardinal Prospero Lambertini – the man who would later become Pope Benedict XIV – and is adorned with some exceptional frescoes. Indeed, those in the Camerino de Europa are reputed to be by the Baroque artists Annibale and Agostino Carracci.
Operating as a hotel since 1909, the 5-star Grand Hotel Majestic possesses over 100 rooms and is located right at the heart of the city.
