The Headland Hotel
Newquay, Cornwall, England

Built to be the “finest hotel in the South West”, in little over a century the Headland Hotel has played host to King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra (on several occasions), and the royal princes who would later become Edward VIII and George VI. The latter occupied rooms 102,103 and 104.
The hotel also served as a Royal Air Force hospital during World War II, and was later used as a film set for Witches, starring Anjelica Huston.
4-star rated, the hotel overlooks the Atlantic ocean - an impressive a sight in winter as it is during the summer months. Indeed, anyone wondering why Newquay is arguably the surfing capital of Europe will be left in no doubt, whetever the season.
The Headland prides itself on being a family-friendly hotel, and there is no shortage of things in the immediate area to keep younger guests entertained. In addition to the beaches, Newquay also boasts its own zoo, an aquarium, and the perennially-popular Dairyland is also nearby. It features over 90 guest rooms in all, a restaurant specialising in seafood, bar, outdoor swimming pool (open seasonally, of course), and welcomes well behaved dogs.
