Gravetye Manor
West Hoathly, West Sussex, England.
This exceptional country house is, as one might expect, a Grade I listed building and one of the finest small Elizabethan manor houses anywhere in England.
Built in 1596 during the latter years of Elizabeth’s reign, the house later became the home of William Robinson until his death here in 1935. Undoubtedly one of the most influential gardeners in history (he particularly championed less formal plots), Robinson created not only one of the finest gardens in the whole of the nation at Gravetye itself, but is also celebrated to this day for his book The English Flower Garden.
Today, this beautiful property offers hotel accommodation via 17 guest bedrooms, including two suites: The Robinson and the Gravetye.
While benefiting from a rural location, towns such as Crawley and East Grinstead are just a few miles away, while it also offers relatively easy access to the M25 and London.
