The Goldener Adler (Adler Historic Guesthouse)

Re-opened in 2000 after extensive renovation work, The Goldener Adler at Bressanone can boast a heritage dating back some 500 years or more.
During the centuries this South Tyrolean inn has provided hospitality to an array of famous historic names. It is said that to the Goldener Adler came the likes of the Holy Roman Emperors Maximillian I and Charles V, and the great renaissance writer Michel de Montaigne even noted his stay in 1580.
The future Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de Medici, is also reputed to have been a guest in 1667 while on his own grand tour of Europe.
Today, the Goldener Adler features 25 rooms and is rated four-star. Situated by the Eisack River and in the heart of Bressnone, its Künstlerstübele Finsterwirt restaurant specializes in South Tyrolean cuisine.
