Hostellerie Jerome
La Turbie, Provence, France.
A former presbytery and property of Cistercian friars, Hostellerie Jerome is a fine old Provencal building which is reputed to date, in parts, from the 13th century.
Aside from its exceptional age and heritage, the aspect that will interest the history enthusiast the most is that Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have stayed in 1796. Indeed, one of the rooms bears his name and is supposedly the very one in which he slept.
La Turbie itself is a celebrated medieval village from which the Bay of Monaco is visible. Nice is just 15 miles away, and Monte Carlo only a few minutes drive to the south.
