Channing's Hotel
Edinburgh, Scotland.
With regret, Channing's is no longer offering accommodation. This is a legacy page.
Being Edwardian this certainly isn’t the oldest hotel in Edinburgh. In fact, we wouldn’t normally include such a comparative youngster in our lists. However, having been created from three townhouses of which one was once the home of the explorer Ernest Shackleton, it more than earns its place on Nights in the Past on historical grounds.
Indeed, Number 14 South Learmonth Gardens was the home of the famous explorer between 1904 and 1910; a time when he was the secretary of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
4 star rated, Channing’s features 41 guest bedrooms in total, including the Shackleton Rooms and Suites.
