The Cliff House at Pike's Peak
Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.
Rated as one of the most romantic hotels in the United States, The Cliff House at Pike’s Peak began life as a stagecoach stop. Built in 1873, the 54-room and suite hotel even proudly boasts that it was taking in visitors before Colorado was even a state.
Famous guests of yesteryear include William Henry Jackson, P.T Barnum, Thomas Edison, and Theodore Roosevelt. Charles Dickens is also reputed to have visited the hotel.
Interestingly, the Cliff House features a number of “Celebrity Suites”, each named after a famous figure to have stayed at the property over the last century. These include the Buffalo Bill, General John Pershing and Katherine Lee Bates.
