The Occidental Hotel

Those fascinated by the history of the Old West will no doubt consider The Occidental for their tour itinerary. After all, Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid have all stayed here, as indeed did a youthful Teddy Roosevelt.
Indeed, this is a place which justifiably makes the most of its heritage and period features. In fact, every room is individually furnished (with plenty of antiques) and named, each reflecting part of the story of the building. These include The Bordello and Madam’s Suite (on account of the “services” offered to cowboys and gunslingers of yesteryear); The President Hoover Suite (he stayed in 1932); and the Teddy Roosevelt Suite.
The hotel features its own restaurant, The Virginian, and an elegant saloon once frequented by the Wild West’s most famous figures.
