EDINBURGH AREA
Dalhousie Castle. Bonyrigg. Some might well want to spend a night here in the hope of bumping into ‘Lady Catherine’. However, the aforementioned “Grey Lady” is only one of the apparitions to be found at Dalhousie Castle. Another ghost is supposedly that of Sir Alexander Ramsay (a former Laird of the estate who was starved to death at Hermitage Castle in Roxburghshire). See our special history section for Dalhousie Castle
Witchery by the Castle. Edinburgh. Situated on the Royal Mile, this celebrated hotel (and associated restaurant) is said by some to be haunted by the spirit of one of the many unfortunate souls to have been burned at the stake for witchcraft in the immediate vicinity in the late 1500s and early 1600s. However, if you don’t spot any ethereal beings during your stay you might still encounter a member of the celebocracy – the Witchery has quite a reputation for accommodating film stars and such. You can find more information about Witchery in the Castle at Tripadvisor.
