Rothley Court. Rothley, Leicester.

This handsome building - whose predecessor is to be found in the Domesday Book - is particularly notable for its private chapel. Constructed during the 1200‘s, it was originally the property of none other than the Knights Templar.

Rothley Court offers accommodation within both a converted mews to four-poster suites in the main house.

Summer Creative

Don’t forget... Nights In The Past now has a new group on Facebook devoted to the site and historic hotels, inns and other places to stay throughout the UK and Europe. All are welcome to join and share information.

Hotels and inns associated with history’s heroes and villains... That’s the idea of this particular site. As such, we would love to learn of any Leicestershire hotels and inns of historic note which we might have missed in our research. Moreover, we also like to provide the visitor with options on period accommodation from the 11th to early 19th centuries. Is it a piece of architectural heritage? Is it a romantic place to stay? Does it offer a high level of hospitality? ‘Yes’ to all three and we’ll add it to the site.
