Marygreen Manor Hotel
Brentwood, Essex, England.

This 4-star hotel might well be geared to the demands of the modern day traveller, but it remains a pretty historic old place by anyone’s standards.
The core of the present house largely dates from the latter half of the 16th century, although its predecessor (known then as The Place) was the home of Henry Roper - Gentleman servant of Catherine of Aragon. Indeed, it is likely that both she and Henry VIII would have stayed at some point during their marriage. Another famous visitor is thought to have been the diarist Samuel Pepys who was friends with owners of the building during the mid-1600’s.
Marygreen Manor Hotel features 4 different room types. 30 of these are Courtyard Garden Rooms, a further 10 (of which three are suites) in the Brampton Lodge, a number of Apartments, and – of most interest to the history enthusiast – the Tudor Rooms: the Catherine of Aragon, Catherine Howard, Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves Room.
4 Star rated, Marygreen Manor is close to the M25 and within easy reach of Billericay, Chelmsford, and Romford.
