MANCHESTER VILLAGE |

What is today a 1,300 acre resort was once a simple house known as the Marsh Tavern. Dating back to 1769, that original building today serves as a restaurant to the hotel. Overall, there are 183 guest rooms, suites and townhouses available to visitors – there are thirteen rooms within the historic “1811 House”, once owned by the granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln. |

Historic Significance: Described as a meeting place for the fathers of the American Revolution, it is known that at least four presidents have rested at The Equinox: Taft, Grant, Harrison and Theodore Roosevelt. |

MANCHESTER CENTER |

Built circa 1764, the Inn at Ormsby Hill is a restore manor house which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It offers 10 guest rooms and benefits from views of both Battenkill Valley and the Green Mountain landscape. |

Historic Significance: Legend has it that one of the Revolutionary War’s most colourful figures, Ethan Allen, hid out in the building. It has also been visited by both presidents Taft and Grant, as well as Robert Todd Lincoln. The house also has the town’s original jail cell located in its basement. |

LUDLOW |
|
Originally built in 1840 as a summer hotel serving the Victorian gentry, Echo Lake Inn is one of very few rural Vermont inns operating on a year round basis. It offers 23 guest rooms (some with private Jacuzzis) and seven condos. |

Historic Significance: President Calvin Coolidge was one former guest, as indeed were Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. |

STOWE |
|
Dating back to 1833, the Green Mountain Inn was originally a private residence that soon became a popular “summering place” for well-heeled New Englanders. Both its main building and adjacent depot building are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and offer 104 individually furnished guest rooms, fitness centre and year-rpund outdoor swimming pool. |

Built around the mid 18th century, The Inn at Narrow Passage sits amid 5 acres on the Shenandoah River. It offers 12 guest rooms, most with working fireplaces and views of the Massanutten Mountains. |

Historic Significance: the house acted as Stonewall Jackson’s headquarters during the Valley Campaign of 1862. |

Located at the heart of Richmond’s historic district, the Jefferson boasts 262 guest rooms, 19 meeting/banqueting rooms, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, business centre and two restuarants. |

Historic Significance: Opened in 1895, in little over 100 years it has played host to no fewer than 11 U.S. Presidents including, Harrison, McKinley, Taft, Wilson, Coolidge and both Roosevelts. Less than an hour from the nation’s capital, this grand Colonial mansion sits amid 80 acres of pasture and woodland. It offers a total of 8 guest rooms, including “Mr Jefferson’s Suite”, many of which benefit from views of the famous Blue Ridge Mountains. |

Historic Significance: Built in 1766 it is said that both Thomas Jefferson and General Lafayette were frequent visitors. |
