Soughton Hall. Mold
A most unusual and appealing building, originally constructed in 1714 and later re-worked during the 1820‘s. Once a Bishop’s palace, Soughton Hall was home to William John Bankes during the early nineteenth century - a man most famed for exploration and Egyptology. Also worth noting is that the plans for present structure were drawn up by none other than Charles Barry - architect of the Houses of Parliament.
Today the building houses a four-star boutique hotel offering 15 individually and beautifully furnished guest rooms and suites.

The St. Tudno Hotel. Llandudno
The author himself might not have stayed at the St. Tudno hotel, but the inspiration for the central character of his world-famous book Alice in Wonderland certainly did.
Visiting with her parents during Easter 1861, eight-years-old Alice Liddell would already have known the shy Oxford don, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll). Two years later the story that would change childrens’ literature would be written after a boating trip on the Thames.

Pale Hall. Nr Bala
The building one sees today is, in fact, a replacement for a previous house demolished following an unsuccessful attempt at restoration. The then owner, Henry Robertson, completed the new hall in 1871 and continued to live there until his death in 1888.
The year after, 1889, saw the visit of Queen Victoria. So enamoured of the area was she that a pathway along the river is today known as The Queen’s Walk. Indeed, the original bath and antique bed in which she slept during her stay are still used to this day.
