RED LODGE |
Located in a former mining town, The Pollard exudes “old west” charm – oak panelling and Victorian décor galore. Built around 1893, the hotel offers 39 guest rooms, some of which have balconies and mountain views. |
Historical Significance: This is the sort of hotel of which enthusiasts of the real “wild west” will approve: the property was once frequented by the likes of Buffalo Bill Cody, and Martha Jane Cannary-Burke (better known as Calamity Jane). |

NEW CASTLE |
Opening for business in 1874, this landmark building underwent a colossal restoration having been listed as one of the “11 most endangered places” by the National Trust for Historic Places in 1996. Now returned to splendour, the hotel offers over 160 guest rooms and suites, many with harbour and ocean views. |

CIMARRON |
Originally known as Lambert’s Inn on account of its first owner, Henry Lambert, it is said to have witnessed more than twenty murders when the town of Cimarron was patronised by the real-life Good, Bad and Ugly. Of course, the atmosphere is far more serene these days – the hotel offers 14 rooms in the old building and ten in an adjacent two-storey annexe. |
TAOS |
Also known as "Las Palomas de Taos" on account of the doves (palomas) which live around the property, it owes its existing name to the wealthy arts patron of the same name. The building (originally constructed from adobe) was enlarged in the early 1920’s and became a popular retreat for artists and writers. Today the property offers 22 rooms, most of which are in the main house its former owner would have known. |
Historic Significance: D. H. Lawrence stayed at the house during September 1922, though it is said he never quite saw eye-to-eye with his hostess. Other notable artistic figures of the time, including Georgia O’Keeffe, also visited. |
