Historic Hotels in Marche and Abruzzo

Marche

Acquasanta Terme

Castel di Luco. Only a short drive from Ascoli Piceno, Castel di Luco is a beautiful old fortress whose history stretches back almost one thousand years. Indeed, most of the ancient structure remains - testament to those who laboured to build it in the first place. The accommodation - only four suites - is situated in a fourteenth century part of the property. TripAdvisor

Ascoli Piceno

Palazzo Guiderocchi. Offering a range of rooms (32 in total), Palazzo Guiderocchi is almost the epitome of ancient Italian urban architecture. LateRooms |Expedia

Hotel - Residenza 100 Torri. Offering both 14 rooms in the hotel itself as well as a number of apartments, this fine Ascoli house dates in parts from the thirteenth century. LateRooms

Castelraimondo

Borgo Lanciano Relais Benessere. Part old, part contemporary, this countryside hotel offers a total of 40 rooms and 9 suites. Expedia | LateRooms

Fano

Castello Montegiove. Part of the Charme e Relax group, Castello Montegiove is a striking neo-gothic country house offering 21 rooms and four-star hospitality. LateRooms

San Severino

Palazzo Servanzi Confidati. There’s no prizes for guessing that this was once the home of local dignitaries. Every inch the patrician house, Servanzi Confidati is a recently restored 17th century palace offering a total of 27 rooms. LateRooms | Expedia

Urbino

Albergo San Domenico. Situated in front of the Ducal Palace in the town’s main square, Albergo San Domenico dates from both the 14th and 16th centuries, and was originally both a monastery and convent. Expedia

Abruzzo

Ascoli Piceno

Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi. Located just a few miles to the east of Ascoli Piceno (and within easy reach of the Adriatic coast), this is not so much a period house, but more ‘‘periods’. Documents suggest a building on the site as long ago as circa 1300, and there are elements of the fifteenth to be found in the kitchens. The fine oratory dates from the late 16th century, while the main facade of the house was added in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. There are a number of suites within the Relais Villa, while there are a similar number of apartments in the Residenza San Pancrazio. LateRooms

Loreto Aprutino

Castello Chiola Dimora Storica.
Situated in a medieval town, this ancient building was recently restored and opened as a 4-star hotel. Its origins are said to date back as far as 864 AD. LateRooms | Expedia

We are hoping to complete this section devoted to historic and period hotels in eastern Italy in the near future. As such, any suggestions are most welcome. Heritage accommodation in and around places such as Ravenna, Rimini, Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Pescara and Eastern Abruzzo is all eligible. Any associated with icons of Italy past are most welcome, as are those whose age is of great note (I.e. From the 10th to the 16th centuries inclusive). We hope you enjoy the site and check back soon.
