Chateau de Goudourville. Goudourville.
Such is the strength of this ancient castle that Simon de Montfort failed to take it after a fearsome siege. Indeed, built in the XI century, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t remain standing for a thousand years more.
It’s history is, of course, extremely lengthy and colourful. But many will be interested to learn that both Henri IV of France and Pope Clement V both stayed at Chateau de Goudourville - its name being derived from the Latin “Gothurum Villa” (House of the Goths).
There are six rooms available to guests, including one named after Charles IX (1550-1574) who is known to have stayed here for a number of months.
The border with Aquitaine is close by, and the city of Toulouse little over an hours drive south east. More information is available via TripAdvisor

Midi-Pyrenees is a particularly large region of France. As such, we are sure that despite extensive research there will be a historic hotel or inn we’ve missed or overlooked. As such, we would be particularly grateful to anyone who might have information about a hidden gem in any of its departments: Lot, Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées, Arriège, Haute-Garonne, Tarn, Tarn- et-Garonne and Aveyron. Romantic places to stay are, of course, most important. But they really should be of historic significance and have maintained as much of their original architectural fabric as possible. Thank you.
